Landscape and an Anime Girl | 12:22 p.m. - 2007-06-17
I've been trying to be able to paint landscapes but this is the best I've done. A watercolor sketch of my favorite place to look at from the front porch. There's going to be lots of development over that way and so I might not get to see it for much longer, but now I have this abstractly lovely thing to remind me of the view.
Here's a "sort of" anime painting I did in a few hours. Supposed to be a little girl, ten years old or so.

I didn't like the drawing I did of Ryan (from my story Jump) so I made a painting of him that seemed to fit his character better. Watercolor and ink. The camera's ever-present flash did its own little lighting trick here.
Val and Veronica | 4:43 p.m. - 2007-04-10
VAL THOMPSON is one of Jen's best friends at school. She has green (?) eyes and curly black hair. Val is sort of a "sedated punk" type, in that she likes to dress outrageously sometimes but isn't very wild on the inside. She can be sarcastic and kind of a jerk, but she doesn't like to hurt people intentionally. She looks out for Jen even if she doesn't show it much.
VERONICA (does she have a last name? hmm...) is Ryan's ex-girlfriend. She has blonde hair and blue eyes and yes, she's very pretty, but underneath that sweet exterior lies a RAVENING MONSTER!!! Okay, not so much. Veronica has some psychological problems and often feels a need to attach herself to whatever boy she possibly can. She clings to Ryan because he is more vulnerable than most guys and she can threaten him easily. Ryan doesn't want to retaliate, one, because she's a girl, and two, because Veronica will place the blame on him if he does. So Veronica is able to do whatever she wants to him...i.e. physical and sexual abuse...whenever she wants. Veronica did break up with Ryan but she tends to keep following him around--probably because she feels more in control of him than anyone else.

JEN BRADY is another main character from Jump. She's 16 or 17 years old and she has light brown hair and blue-green eyes. She wants to help Ryan but sometimes misunderstands him because she doesn't know the whole truth about him and Veronica (Ryan's old girlfriend). I think this drawing of Jen sucks, I was using a reference but it didn't turn out right. I have lots of trouble drawing people who smile with their teeth. Maybe that's why I don't smile with my teeth that much. Who knows?

This is actually the first Photoshop drawing that I've done at a reasonable "print size"...usually I do things the cheap way and resize my images to 750-by-something pixels to work on them in Photoshop, because a huge file tends to lock up the application. But this one I did right! Hooray!
I would tell you my favorite character in Ouran, but I really can't pick one. Haru is probably the one I'm the most like. Also I really like Hunny and his weirdly endearing adorableness (he's 18 but acts like a 5-year-old?)...Anyway...
